2013 Ford Escape Recall for Defective Product

|

Just last week on July 23, 2012, nearly 11,500 Ford Escape SUVs were recalled due to problems with their fuel lines. According to the report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the manufacturer had made a mistake with the production of some of the fuel line parts. It looks as if the lines had been scored from one of the machines, causing concern. If the scoring on these fuel lines were allowed to go unnoticed, it could cause them to split open and leak gas. Obviously this is a major hazard as it could cause engine fires. The manufacturer who made the fuel lines is still continuing to produce Ford's current lines, but has fixed the error.

Ford is attempting to remedy the issue and has asked everyone driving the 2013 model with 1.6-liter engines to stop using them immediately. This is not the first time Ford has had to recall one of their vehicles. In fact just four days later on July 27, 2012 they were forced to also recall Ford Escapes from 2001-2004 due to defects in the acceleration. While there have been no serious injuries yet due to either of these product flaws, it has severely hurt the company.
